Acrobat 3D…Damn!

Ok, so I just got off of a 90 minute conference call/web demo for Acrobat 3D version 8…damn! I have the beta version loaded up and I can’t wait to start messing around with it some more…I can’t wait to show my VP of Sales/Marketing this one part…I have to say, this is some of the coolest sh…stuff that I’ve seen in a while. The things that you’ll be able to do with this product, with regards to cross-functional CAD interface, communicating with vendors, etc. will blow you away! Stay tuned my loyal reader and, hey, do me a favor and tell a couple of your friends about this blog. I’d love to get my readership into double digits…

**Note to the engineers at Adobe: You had better get that missing functionality working for SolidWorks quickly (i.e. PMI) There’s a lot more of us SolidWorks users than there is of you…"

    Hi Jeff,
I look forward to reading your review. I’ve heard a lot lately about Adobe getting more involved in the 3D CAD industry. If they are getting involved then you would think they would do something “BIG”. Time will tell.

Jeff, I’m eagerly waiting for your review as well. I have already coined the term “on-line parts manual” before here at work using E-Drawings and have waited before any further testing is done because I saw Adobe 3D at SWW2007 and wanted to see if anyone is/will be using it. If you’re that excited, it has to mean that this works in a way we haven’t seen before. I’m mainly concerned about BOM’s along with drawings and seeing this in a 3D setting so that our field personnel can look at the model and select which part needs to be replaced and have the knowledge of how and where it is placed in the actual model.

Jeff, your enthusiasm is completely contagious. After reading this I remembered that somone had given me a demo disk with Adobe 3D on it, and I had to rummage around to find it. There it was under the left over pizza boxes from the last user group.
You’re completely right, this sh…stuff is amazing! It combines eDrawings with PDF with the IPA (interactive product animator). Very cool. Looking forward to your review.
