DriveWorksXpress – Yours in ‘08

Now I know that I’ve talked about DriveWorks a couple of times before (here and here), but I wanted to mention it again for two reasons. First, CADJunky has a great video posted showing you what DriveWorksXpress can do. Yes, it’s a "canned demo", but I’m here to say that it does work, which brings me to my second reason for rehashing…
I prepared a demo for a customer this past weekend. One of their wants was the ability to change dimensions via a spreadsheet, or something along those lines. "No problem," I thought, "I’ll just use a design table and…hey, wait a minute! I wonder…?" DWX (that’s the "official" acronym for DriveWorksXpress) allowed me to easily capture the parameters I needed. It was just simple length or width changes either. I had hole patterns that were defined by the length and width also, where the number of holes, as well as their spacing, were driven by the L or W. In the end, the customer was duly impressed. Hell, I was impressed! Up until then, I’d only used DWX for simple things. I have the "full-blown" version of DriveWorks now and, as soon as I can, I’m going to get into it. If the "xpress" version is that good, imagine how good its big brother is gonna be! And remember, DWX comes with SolidWorks ‘08.

Oh, two more quick notes:
GO RED SOX!!
GO PATRIOTS!!
