It doesn't bother me too much if people want to clutter up their brains with toolbars. The way I see, it makes me look like a genius compared to them when I show up with an uncluttered screen singing the praises of the "s" key. What really torques me off is when I have to help one of the toolbar Neanderthals with modeling on their machines. It takes forever to figure anything out, and they still complain that I'm going too fast. Ugh...

Well Jeff, I don't think you'll find too many users reading your blog that are still stuck in Toolbar jail. Like Brian, I'm an S key and keyboard shortcut junkie. Trying to use gestures, but just not seeming to like it fully yet with it's fancy dissappeariing oh wait not that one method. So, back to your question. I see it alot with users that are more casual users of SolidWorks. They just take the default settings, and don't go any deeper. It's like having a swiss army knife with 500 tools, and they use the knife only.

Been there, done that... http://www.cadfanatic.com/2007/04/keyboard-shortcuts/

This guy had EVERY toolbar open, and had less than half of his 21" monitor left for modeling space!

I run with no toolbars open at all and use the "S" key in combination with keyboard shortcuts. And it's great!

Between "S" Key, Mouse Gestures & Keyboard Shortcut what is this thing you call Toolbars! It helps coming from a early AutoCAD background because it was easier to use keyboard commands as well.

I see it time and time again. I find that while presenting a topic at a user group or in front on a class, using these tools make some eyebrows pop up. Those are the ones you need to talk to...<br>We all get into our usage ruts and use the tool the way we know and what works. Eye opening sessions are good for all of us.

I live and die by the "S" key. It has been the most important tool change in SW IMHO that has increased my productivity the most.
