Is 2010 the year you go?

Well, will it be? You know you want to go; you can almost taste how badly you want to rub elbows with thousands of other SolidWorks users can’t you? Have you seen the lineup of speakers for SolidWorks World 2010 yet? There’s the usual suspects from SolidWorks: Marlon Banta, Joy Garon, Mark Biasotti as well as a slew of others. Then you have the usual, non-employee, power users: Matt Lombard, Devon Sowell, Gerald Davis. Then you have me. Seriously, how can you even think of not going now? Instead of reading the drivel I write, you’ll be able to hear it first-hand!

I could easily see this post starting to sound like a broken record spouting off all the reasons you should go to SolidWorks World. What I want to know is why you don’t want to go. Not why you can’t (money, time off), but why you won’t.  I’m interested to hear.

This will be my first time to SWW, I am paying my own travel & accomodations, and SW is picking up my registration through my user group. I have used SW for over 10 years and am really looking forward to SWW.
  • I'll be there, but did you threaten me at SWW09 that you'd come to israel at some point or another?
  • JeffMirisola
    Benny,
I wouldn't call it a threat, I was only fishing for an invite.

  • I know :-) and you're invited... I'll pay for all the drinks but not sure that would be enough to convince you.

Don't be afraid to offer to pay my way, too!

I'd like to go but can't afford it. The company I work for will not pay for the trip and I don't have the money. So I will be reading about everyone elses trip as usual in February 2010.

Ok, here goes - I don't want to go because:
    1) I would MUCH rather put up with the normal work routine than spend time enriching myself around persons who know so much more than me.
    2) If I were to attend I would have to work WAY too hard to not enjoy those 4 days.
    3) I could put more money in my gas tank and make a lot of useless shopping trips if I didn't have to spend the money to travel to Anaheim.
    4) I could spend more nights in my hum-drum house if I didn't have to put up with staying in a hotel with housekeeping services.
    5) I could dream about warm weather if I wasn't actually living in it during SWW2010.

That's it, I've already decided that I'm going and have resigned myself to all of the above. This will be 5 in a row, with this year's and last year being paid out of my own pocket, no company payment. Despite everything - I CAN HARDLY WAIT!!

I feel your pain, Jeff. Just know that there will be many a kindred spirit there to commiserate with.
